Amigos de Música

I love the idea of experiencing music in pleasant surroundings and informal gatherings with the artists before or after the concerts.

I am delighted, as Artistic Director of the quadrennial Sydney International Piano Competition, to be able to offer a recital or two for the Amigos to the winners. I know they will be welcomed into a special family of musical friends and that lives will inevitably be mutually enriched.

Why do we like coming to the Amigos de Musica? We love classical music and appreciate the opportunity to hear first class performances by a variety of exceptionally gifted musicians in a superb location; we also enjoy seeing our friends and meeting new Amigos who have similar interests.

The excellent concerts given by artists, carefully selected by a formidable classic music connoisseur and also president of the Amigos da Musica association, Helga Hampton, are always a highlight in my calendar.

An artist coming to play for the Amigos is well taken care of, by persons with great respect for art and for the artist.  Like the name says, when you play for the Amigos, you are between friends.  It makes it really stimulating and meaningful to perform great music there.

I love coming to play in Algarve – it’s so beautiful and peaceful.

I feel warmly welcomed by Amigos de Musica. Concerts are always so well attended, and audience is most knowledgeable and appreciative. It’s also so inspiring practicing in these surroundings- I always look forward to coming back.
