Two Berlin born musicians, Adele Bitter, Cello and Holger Groschopp, Piano will perform concerts on Tuesday June 9, 2015 and Thursday June 11, 2015. On the Tuesday concert Adele and Holger will play compositions by Schumann, Beethoven and Strauss and on the Thursday concert they will play compositions by Debussy, Jolivet, Laks and Chopin.
Adele Bitter did her early studies in Frankfurt and then continued at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin. She studied in Cincinnati with Lee Fisher (LaSalle Quartet). She played in the Ensemble Modern in Lucerne and Edinburgh, was a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra (from 1999 – 2001). She has since been First Cello in the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. Adele regularly plays chamber music with piano or organ as well as with a string quartet. She is also active in the field of early music and completed doctoral studies in historical performance.
Holger Groschopp initially pursued his music studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown. He also studied composition with Isang Yun and song interpretation with Aribert Reimann and late Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, the renowned baritone and conductor. His extensive solo career has taken him to most European countries, the Middle and Far East and North and Central America. He has performed as a soloist and as a chamber music partner at major European festivals and is considered an expert for “New Music” (premieres and first performances of Henze, Yun, Rihm and others). He has received several awards such as the Brahms Competition in Hamburg. He has a very close collaboration with Sir Simon Rattle and members of the Berlin Philarmoniker. In the Philarmonie Berlin he also plays the organ, harpsichord, the celesta and the harmonium. His 6 CDs with Transcriptions and Paraphrases by Ferruccio Busoni attained the highest acclaim from audiences and international critics. It is said that whenever a symphonic work includes a keyboard part they call on Holger Groschopp!

Amigos’ de Música concerts at Os Agostos begin at 7.30pm sharp (note new time). Doors open at 6.30pm and wine, fruit juices and canapés will be served. Guests and non-members are asked to donate €25 per person to help offset expenses.
The AMIGOS DE MÚSICA is an international group of around 90 members who stage musical activities by internationally renowned musicians and also sponsor young Portuguese musicians. It is a non-profit organization and will be celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year.
