Dear Amigos,
Even though this Newsletter is mainly forward-looking, I don’t want to be remiss in gloating over the good success and the great enjoyment we had with the Lucy Parham and Tim McInnerney “Reverie” presentation in May, when the troubled world of the genius that Claude Debussy was, was movingly brought to life for us in word and music. What a treat to have so great a pianist together with a truly fantastic actor entertaining us.
We are now in the last month of the 2014/15 season with the final two evening concerts on Tuesday 9th and Thursday 11th, 2015. The pianist Holger Groschopp and the cellist Adele Bitter have prepared this wonderful programme of music for us.

Both are from Berlin, where Holger is the keyboard player of the Berliner Philharmoniker, and Adele is First Cellist with the Stadtsymphonie. They are coming to the Algarve for the first time and will be staying in Os Agostos.
The next mail you will receive from me will be the Membership Renewal Application for the year 2015/16 from which you will be able to glean the planned music programme for the next 16 concerts. It is all in the bag, so to speak, and you will notice the good mix of “old” Amigo favourites with new great names. (Please do not forget, that all our artists can be “met” online – you can just google them and keep yourself informed.) I am very proud to present to you another inspiring programme – beginning with Piers Lane in September.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have in your circle any friends who would make good Amigos, please let me have their contacts so that I can invite them to join us.
As Grand Finale of our successful first year at Os Agostos I thought a celebration would be in order; a celebration of having found such a lovely new “home” and of having enjoyed together great music on 16 different occasions. So, what could be more fitting than to come together on the terraces of Os Agostos on Midsummer Night for a Gala Dinner with piano Recital?
Our protegee, Beatriz Ferreira, will give us a demonstration of her progress at the Royal College of Music where she plans to finish her post-graduate studies in 2016, with this programme:
Schubert – Impromptu No. 3 in G flat Major D. 899
Beethoven – Sonata No. 8 Op. 13 in C minor ‘Pathétique’
Franck – Prelude, Choral and Fugue
There are still a few places available for this special Amigo event to which your guests are also welcome. The cost per person is €65.00 for a wonderful 3-course dinner with all wines. And let me repeat: this is also a fundraiser; all monies after expenses are destined to our Young Musicians Sponsorship Fund, and donation are, of course, always very welcome.
