Valentine’s Greetings !
In the hopes that you have made 2017 your year by now, and that even with all the obvious vicissitudes globally, it will be a good year for all of us in our beautiful Algarve. I send all my best wishes.
This being a letter of news, let me start with the most important Amigo news: Last week we woke up our Yamaha piano from its hibernation and handed it over to Bruno Torrens, the official Yamaha Technician, for the complete overhaul already discussed. He came from London, spent 3 full days dismembering the instrument completely, diagnosing the extent of wear and tear, and putting it back together again pristinely. A detailed report is available to anybody who wants it. Let me take this opportunity to thank again all those members who assisted in the not insubstantial cost of this necessary intervention by way of additional donations. Thank you very much !
Thanks are also in order to the members of the Executive Committee, Leonor Griessler, Michael Savage and John Perera, for their unstinting help in making Bruno’s stay in Os Agostos as pleasant as possible by doing chauffeuring, hosting and entertaining services. Thank you all and thanks to the Os Agostos team, too !
So, now we are REALLY ready to kick start the second part of the 2016/17 concert season. It will be the Berlin pianist, Holger Groschopp, to inaugurate the newly pampered Yamaha during the upcoming two March concerts. He will be playing a varied programme of great works with the Berlin cellist, Adele Bitter.
On March 14th: Rachmaninov – Sonata in G minor,
Poulenc – Sonata 1940 and Gershwin – Three songs and more
On March 16th: Beethoven, Sonata No. 1 in F major
Mendelsohn – Variations concertantes and Busoni – “Kultaselle”
Saint-Saens – Sonata No. 1

PLEASE NOTE: I particularly urge you to make your reservations as soon as possible, for a very specific reason: The German monthly magazine “Entdecken Sie Algarve” will have a beautiful long feature about our two artists in their March issue, and I foresee a lot of active response. So get your reservations in before we have a full-house.
The routine as usual: gates open at 18:00, drinks at 18:30 and concert begin at 19:00
