Eric Le Sage is recognised as a musician of rare musical sensitivity. He is now established as one of the leading pianists of his generation. A highly acclaimed performer of Schumann’s piano music and of chamber music in general, his deep interest in unknown works has earned him a catalogue of over fifty concertos, from Bach to Jolivet and Gershwin to Hindemith, Schoenberg, Britten or Bernstein. He is also, with clarinettist Paul Meyer and flutist Emmanuel Pahud, the founder and artistic director of the “Musique à l’Empéri” international chamber music festival in Salon de Provence, France. Born in 1964 in Aix en Provence, Eric Le Sage was the winner of major international competitions such as Porto in 1985 and the Robert Schumann competition in Zwickau, in 1989. He was also a prize-winner at Leeds International competition the same year, which allowed him to perform under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. Eric Le Sage has performed recitals and chamber music concerts in major venues in France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United-States, and Japan. He also performed as a soloist with famous orquestras such as The Royal Scottish National Orchstra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra for a tour in Japan, the Dresden Philharmonic and the Köln Chamber Orchestra. Most of his recordings were highly acclaimed and awarded the most sought after rewards in France (Diapason d’Or, Grand Prix du Disque). His recording of the complete works of Francis Poulenc was rewarded with various prestigious prizes internationally. Among the various projects Eric Le Sage is currently involved in, one is particularly important to him: the recording of Schumann’s
complete works for piano as part of the composer’s double-anniversary in 2006 and 2010. Some of these CDs have already been released.
Recognized as one of the most exceptional violinists of his generation due to his deep musicality and his eclectism, François Salque is a most eminent personality in the world of cello and chamber music. Since a young age he participates in numerous international competitions winning 10 first prizes and many specials awards. He is the French cellist who has received the highest distinctions. His CD recordings as a soloist as well as with chamber music ensembles have been acclaimed by the critics. Especially acclaimed are 7 CDs
he recorded with the Isaye Quatuor of which he was the cellist over 5 years.
His dedication towards contemporary music incited various composers to write pieces for him. This year’s schedule includes concerts in the most important French venues (Salle Pleyel, Châtelet, Théâtre des Champs Elysées…) as well as concert tours through Japan, Switzerland and Russia. François Salque participates in many festivals and musical contests in France. He is presently teaching at Paris Conservatory.
