Dear Amigas and Amigos,

Best wishes for a good 2020, with a lot of music and in the best of health!

Let us spend 2020 in the only way possible: by celebrating the Beethoven Jubilee Year together with the entire music world with a lot of music  –  and in this, do not expect our programmes to always limit themselves to the oeuvre of the Great Ludwig, however vast that is. Our artists will certainly give us performances of a good variety for us to look forward to.

Yet, in our February concerts we will kick-off the second half of the present membership year and concert season with an All-Beethoven fare, and we have the best musicians possible for this. The “Järna Trio” with Juho Pohjonen on piano, Yura Lee on violin and Jakob Koranyi on cello are coming to us from Sweden and Finland with an ingeniously composed programme of solo, duo and trio works by the Great Master. We are in for two colourful evenings of great music by three world-class interpreters on

Tuesday, February 18^th and Thursday, February 20^th, 2020 at Os Agostos

I urge you to make your reservations asap by sending an email to reservasconcertos@gmail.com (forgive me for being so repetitious, and for even adding again the plea:  after making a reservation, PLEASE send another email of cancellation as soon as you notice that you cannot attend. We have waiting lists and usually fill the hall.  Thank you!)  If you have made a reservation way in advance, please review and confirm it – sometimes this slips our memory, but Cristina can assist.

March concerts:

In March we have invited a Canadian pianist, new in the array of Amigos de Musica artists,  Pierre-Andre Doucet to come for recitals on March 24^th and 26^th and he promises to share his love for Schubert with us.  Mark the dates in your diaries.

April brings the great Andrey Gugnin on 28^th and 30^th

May19^th and 21^st, look forward to the “Russian Trio” of Evgueni Sinaisky, Valeria Zorina, and Kyrill Timofeev

June ends the season on 16^th and 18^th with Konstantin Lapshin

And, please, mark Sunday, June 28^th 2019 in your agendas for the Amigos Summer Extra Event when Tiago Rosario will give us another example of his progress. Plans are a-cooking and we shall be able to give you all details re venue, timing and programming very soon.

On the theme of anniversaries, I would like to make you aware of the fact that our Circle of Music Lovers – Associacão de Amigos de Música – will have existed 30 years in the autumn of 2020.  Your Committee is taking this on board and will give the occasion its due as plans progress for the start of the next membership season of 2020/2021. Stay tuned !

*We wish Amigos John Perera and Sven Lindroos all the very best in their battles with ill health.  Guys, you are in our thoughts and we are here for you if there is anything we can do.
