Dear Amigos,
Autumn greetings ! And what an autumn this is – we are so blessed to wake up every morning to blue unblemished skies and fresh sunshine that promises beach temperatures.
What favours Nature presents us with when we compare less favourable climes…..
However, London, with or without sunshine, would have been the place I should have liked to have been this past weekend: The London Piano Festival was in full swing and so many of our “Amigo artists” gave their best. Katya Apekisheva, Kathryn Stott, Lucy Parham and our latest addition to the “stable”, Charles Owen, too. It was a great success.
Our fond memories of Charles Owen’s two concert evenings at Os Agostos in September linger and I promise to invite him back in the near future.
The Caminus Duo
Now the October concerts: The Caminus Duo is coming to us for the first time. This wife and husband team, pianist Joana Vieira and cellist Mikhail Shumov, will be playing a stupendous programme for this combination of instruments:
On Tuesday, October 18th we shall hear works by Glaznov, Tchaikovsky, Freitas Branco, Prokofiev and Martinu.
On Thursday, October 20th the fare will be Brahms, Piazzola and Rachmaninov.

I am sure you know that the gates at Os Agostos open at 18:00 and the concerts begin at 19:00 – in between we mill around on the beautiful terraces of Os Agostos with a glass of refreshments and a few appetisers.

Craig Ogden, Guitarist
November will bring us the Australian guitarist, Craig Ogden, on November 8th and 10th, 2016 – another treat. Craig came to us 4 years ago and was a great hit.
And in December we can look forward to “our” Ana Beatriz Ferreira – please mark
Tuesday, December 13th and Thursday, December 15th, 2016 in your agendas for this great pre-Christmas event.
Let me take this opportunity to thank you for renewing your membership and for the extra donations many of you were generous enough to add to your subs. All these payments represent the budget with which the programmes become possible, and I try each season to bring together a varied and new array of artists for our cultural enjoyment. Thank you !
