September Newsletter

Dear Amigos,

Seasons greetings !  Is it Late Summer or Early Autumn? Here in the Algarve we certainly have been spoiled with the best of everything; ideal beach temperatures, good sleeping nights and ocean swimming par excellence. To quote The Resident “Algarve is Europe’s top beach destination”. Welcome back from your trips and get set for the beginning of the Amigo 2016-17 concert season !

We kick off on Tuesday, September 27th, 2016 at Os Agostos with the pianist Charles Owen who will play works by Bach, Liszt and Ravel. And on Thursday, September 29th, 2016 we shall be treated to works by Bach and Chopin.

We are very lucky to have Charles Owen come to us at this time as he is preparing for the “London Piano Festival” which takes place at Kings Place beginning of October, when he will join Kathryn Stott, Katya Apekisheva, Stephen Kovacevich and Alfred Brendel, and he will be contributing “our” programme to this event. An occasion not to miss. Visit the website of “London Piano Festival” for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: Preceding the Tuesday, September 27th concert, we shall have the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the auditorium of Os Agostos. Please come for 17:30 – you will be receiving the revised Convocations with Proxy under separate cover.  If you cannot attend, please send in your Proxy Form as indicated.

For reservations to the concerts, please send an email or, if not possible, phone Cristina on 914797980.
The formula remains the same: reception on the terraces with drinks starting at 18:00 and the concert begins at 19:00. On Tuesday, Sept. 27th the doors at Os Agostos will open at 16:30, so that the AGM can begin at 17:30.

I take this opportunity to thank you for renewing your membership for the 2016-17 Season (if you haven’t done so yet, please do so ASAP) and I look forward to greeting you in our beautiful venue again.  I also am very happy to welcome new members in the fold.
