A major cultural event will take place in the Algarve on April 28 when The Amigos de Música de São Lourenço will mark the 25th Anniversary of its founding. The celebration will take place at its new home of Os Agostos near Sta Barbara de Nexe, in the presence of the Association’s members plus honoured guests from Turismo do Algarve, DRCAlg, CCDR, UALG, the Teatro Figuras, CMF and various foreign consulates.
Born in the Centro Cultural de São Lourenço in 1991, as a non-profit, private membership organisation, the Amigos de Música has, over the last quarter century, attracted to the Algarve a very large number of world famous musicians. They have presented almost 400 concerts for its members and their guests, thereby immensely enhancing and enriching the area’s cultural life. To help celebrate this auspicious occasion the renowned English pianist Paul Crossley will come out of retirement to donate his services and provide the evening’s musical entertainment.
In addition, following the champagne reception, the Association’s President, Helga Hampton, will read messages of gratitude and fealty from the various young Portuguese musicians who have benefitted from the important financial support provided to them by way of the Amigos’ Young Portuguese Musicians Sponsorship programme over the years.
On Thursday, April 28th from 18:00 at Quinta dos Agostos, all present will raise their glasses to wish the Amigos de Música continued success in providing a unique and valuable musical experience to the Algarve.
