We are sorry to have to tell you that the Amigos de Música Concerts for March 24 & 26 have been cancelled. We heard yesterday that the pianist, Pierre-André Doucet was to have flown from Canada to Europe via Boston and of course he would not be allowed to return via the same route. So he has asked to postpone until some future date.
In these uncertain times things change quickly but we will keep you informed about the April Concerts.
Canadian pianist, Pierre-André Doucet will give two concerts on March 24 and 26. He will play music by Schubert, Debussy, Boulanger, Lizst and Glinka.
Praised for his colourful playing and fascinating writing, pianist and author Pierre-André Doucet is one of Canada’s most captivating young artists.
Winner of the prestigious Knigge Piano Competition, the Auditions Jeunes Artistes de Radio-Canada and the Atlantic Young Artist Competition. His evocative and compelling readings of contemporary scores also make him a refreshing and vital musician, and have been rewarded at the Ibiza International Piano Competition, the CFMTA National Piano Competition, and the Prix d’Europe.
Aware of the modern artist’s evolving role, Pierre-André Doucet has spent more than ten years administering non-profit organisations dedicated to culture, language rights, health, youth leadership and arts education. He is a strong advocate of contextualizing performances through pre-concert talks and commentated recitals, and strives to bring classical music to rural and underserved communities. As such, alongside pianist Julien LeBlanc, he has been Co-Artistic Director of Barachois Summer Music, in his native New Brunswick.
