There will be two concerts over the New Year period. The first, on December 27, 2008, will be performed by Fritz Moscher, Cello and Julian Riem, Piano. This concert will consist of sonatas by Valentini, Wellesz, Beethoven and Brahms.
The second concert will be on January 3, 2009. It will be performed by Uta Kerner, Violin, Sunita Mamtani, Cello and Julian Riem, Piano.
They will perform next day pharmacy compositions by Haydn, Ravel and Schubert.
Fritz Moscher was born in Austria and studied at the Academy of Music in Graz and later in Munich. He has played with different orchestras and as a soloist. He founded and directed several youth orchestras. He lives in the Algarve. Julian Riem was born in Munich where he first studied before continuing his studies in Paris and Basel. A prize winner in competitions in Italy and Spain. He performs as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and Japan. He is guest professor at Music Academies in Munich and Augsburg. He has also performed at the Cultural Center before.
Sunita Mamtani and Uta Kerner have performed at the Cultural Center as members of the Lembach Trio. Sunita Mamtani was born in Munich in 1975 and studied at the Richard-Strauss-Conservatory and
later the Academy of Music, both in Munich. She was a member of the Piano Trio Sue with Uta Kerner. In 2004 she was awarded a scholarship by the Bavarian Orchestra Academy and played with the Hof Symphony. She has played regularly with the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan. Uta Kerner was born in Germany and started playing the violin at the age of five. She played with the Symphony Orchestra Düsseldorf and, in 2003, was a co-founder of the Piano Trio Sue. In 2004 Uta became a member of “Live Music Now” founded by Menuhin. Since 2007 Uta has been playing with
the Seville Symphony Orchestra.
Members and guests are asked to be at the Centro Cultural at around 1900. Concerts start at 1930.
