NICOLAS KOECKERT

NICOLAS KOECKERT, the Munich born violinist and DUDANA MAZMANISHVILI, the Georgian pianist will give 2 recitals during November, 2017. The first will be on Tuesday November 21 and will feature music by Ravel, Saint-Saëns, Chopin, Frank and Tchaikovsky. The second will be on Thursday November 23 and Nicolas and Dudana will play music by Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, Schumann and Liszt.

 Nicolas was born in Munich in 1979 to a well-known family of musicians and is of German, Brazilian and Jewish descent. Nicolas’ violin teachers included Olga Voitowa and later, when he was 16, he started further violin studies with Prof. Grigori Zhislin at the University for Music Würzburg (founded 1797). He then continued at the Cologne University of Music with Prof. Zakhar Bron. He received his Master of Music degree with Distinction in 2007.

Nicolas has formed a close working relationship with the Naxos label. His recording of Russian and Slavonic miniatures was selected by the “The Strad” magazine as a recording of the month. A recent CD release has paired him with his father Rudolf Koeckert. Nicolas has also made numerous radio and TV recordings around the world. He has worked with many well-known conductors including Sir Colin Davis, Lawrence Foster and Ira Levin. Nicolas has played with several leading orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic, Munich Chamber Orchestra and Bavarian Radio Symphony.

 DUDANA---2

Dudana was born in Tbilisi in 1980 and had her first piano lessons from her mother three years later. When she was six she was accepted into Tbilisi’s Central Music School for Talented Children. Her concert debut took place aged 8 when she performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Georgian State Orchestra. By the time Dudana was 14 she had played Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Tbilisi Symphony.

In performances of concert and recital works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann and others Dudana’s lyrical gifts and exceptional virtuosity have won critical acclaim internationally. Prizes included the Busoni Competition in Bolzano, Nadia Reisenberg Award in New York resulting in her Carnegie Hall debut. Dudana has recently been named Cultural Attaché in Germany by the Georgian Government.

Amigos de Música concerts at Os Agostos begin at 7.00pm sharp. Doors open at 6.00pm and wine, fruit juices and canapés will be served. There will also be a short interval with refreshments served. Entry donation is €25 per person for guests and non-members.

 

The AMIGOS DE MÚSICA is an international group of around 90 members who stage musical activities by internationally renowned musicians and also sponsor young Portuguese musicians. It is a non-profit organization and celebrated its twenty-seventh anniversary last year.
