Dear Amigos,

You should have received a substantial mail out from the Cultural Centre which as well as the programs for the next two concerts includes an invitation to the next exhibition and the excellent program poster giving details of the various exhibitions and concerts which are planned at São Lourenço throughout the year. There is however one alteration and it would be wise if you made the change in your diaries now. This information is of particular importance to the Amigos who are also members of the Wine Society.

Some very exciting news: The Amigos de Música now has a web site which, although in its infancy, is up, running and already looking good. We have to thank Frank Schmitz of Quinta Properties for designing the site and giving us so much of his time encouragement and expertise. No less do I personally thank John Perera and Margaret Jackson for taking the trouble to learn how to maintain and add to the site. You can find us at www.amigos-de-musica.org

We are still looking for good photographs to include on the site and any comments and suggestions you may have should be sent to me. You will notice on pokies online our Home page and throughout the site that we have used a new logo. It is good and was recently designed by Cristina Palma of the Cultural Centre. I1t is yet another thrill for us to be able to introduce it to the world at large.

At the Annual General Meeting way back in November, I asked if the Amigos present might like to participate in an event consisting of dinner and a little music on the beach on a warm summers evening. A show of hands

seemed to indicate a favourable response and to that end here is a preliminary, yet to be confirmed, plan. On Saturday 4th July at Passos, Vale de Garrão, a relaxed summer party on the beach with a little light Music from Nelson Martins and a three course dinner with wine priced at around 35 Euros for Amigos and 40 for guests. I will keep you informed as soon as possible.

Regular listeners to Portugal”s excellent Antena Dois may have picked up on the news that our

friend and April 2009 concert artist, Eric Le Sage, has made a recording of works by Schumann which the radio station has selected as CD of the year. In May of 2007, Eric played two programs at São Lourenço both of which were entirely devoted to Robert Schumann. Maybe we can count that as yet another Amigos first. A very good year for him as he and his wife were recently blessed with their first child.
