Dear Amigos,
We are so lucky to live in this wonderful part of the world, especially at this time of the year when the weather is perfect and the crowds have all gone home. There is not a lot we can do to stem the chaos in the global financial markets and I can think of no better place to be when all we can do is hope and keep our fingers crossed.
Marc Grauwels concerts were lovely. He has such an easy and amusing way with him and yet there can be no doubt of his masterly playing. It was fascinating to compare the first concert of Flute and Guitar with the second when he was accompanied by Joelle, his wife playing violin. Both were equally lovely although I personally thought the guitar playing of Yves Storms was sensational.
Looking ahead to October when on the 15th and 18th when our good friend Lucy Parham returns to the Algarve once again, this time in the company of actors Orla Charlton & Chris Bramwell. The programme which has been assembled by Lucy is called Odyssey of Love and to give you a flavour of it I will quote directly from her introduction. Drawn largely from his prolific and colourful letters and interspersed with

Having whetted your appetite, I hope you will all be able to come and enjoy one of the two identical evenings. We shall be giving these concerts as much pre publicity as we can manage and will you please bring as many friends as you
can muster to this enlightening and delightful entertainment.
On Friday the 21st November we shall hold the Amigos our Annual General Meeting which is traditionally followed by our Young Musician Gala Concert. Many of you will remember last year and the quite startling concert performance which our then new protégé Joanna Ballmann. gave for us. One more year of studies in Cologne and it is hard to imagine that she could have improved; but Joanna seems to have a way of dazzling us and I, like many others cannot wait to hear her once again.
Best wishes
Barry
