MARCH 2013 AMIGOS’ CONCERTS AT SÃO LOURENÇO
The Trio A Piacere consisting of Nuno Silva, Clarinet, cellist Catherine Strynckx and Daniela Ignazzitto, Piano will give two concerts at São Lourenço including a world premiere. The first concert will be on Wednesday March 13th. 2013 and will include pieces by Beethoven, Schubert, Kokai Rezso and Nino Rota. The Saturday March 16th. concert will feature pieces by Ginastera, Ravel, Bach, Schumann, Brahms and Azevedo. The Azevedo Trio will be a World Premiere! Probably a first for Portugal.
NUNO SILVA is Portugal’s first Clarinet Master. He has won many competitions both in Portugal and abroad. He graduated in Musicology in Lisbon in 2003 and passed all subjects for a Master’s at Fullerton’s California State University with maximum marks. He has participated in master classes with some of the world’s most famous clarinettists. He has frequently been invited to perform at the International Clarinet Association conventions. Nuno has made several recordings and has played with a number of Portuguese orchestras and a jazz ensemble – Big Band do Hot Club de Portugal. Nuno is presently principal clarinettist with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and is Professor of Clarinet at Lisbon’s National Conservatory and National Superior Orchestra.
CATHERINE STRYNCKX was born in France and studied the cello in Paris, Prague and Basel. She was later encouraged by Lord Yehudi Menuhin to join his academy in Switzerland. She has won several prizes internationally. Catherine was the principal cellist of the Camarata Lysy, Orquestre des Pays de Savoie and Porto National Orchestra. She was a founding member of the Serenade String Trio and the Sirius Ensemble. She has performed throughout Europe, the USA, Argentina, Oman and Thailand. Catherine has recorded for radio, TV and has recorded many CDs. Since 2003 she has been a professor at the University of Music, Castelo Branco and at the National Conservatory, Lisbon.
DANIELA IGNAZZITTO was born in Palermo and started her musical studies at the V. Bellini Conservatory in that city. She graduated in piano with the highest classification and also attended courses in composition. Daniela continued to perfect her musical technique by attending courses and master classes with top pianists in Rome, Ancona, Venice and Osimo. In 1999 she was invited to become a piano teacher and accompanist in Ponta Delgada in the Azores and 2 years later Daniela moved to the National Conservatory School of Music of Lisbon where she is to this day. She teaches at Lisbon’s Academia Amadores de Música and obtained a degree in piano at the University of Music in Lisbon.
These concerts at the Centro Cultural São Lourenço will begin at 7.30 sharp. Doors open at 6.30pm and wine
