KONSTANTIN LAPSHIN is a Russian pianist based in London. He has stepped in virtually at the last moment after István Lajkó broke a leg and is unable to play as scheduled! Konstantin will give 2 concerts at Os Agostos. The first will be on Tuesday June 12 when Konstantin will play music by Mozart, Schumann, Bach and Liszt. The second concert will take place on Thursday June 14 and Konstantin will play pieces by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Debussy and Liszt.
Named “a very special talent” by Murray David Perahia KBE, the American concert pianist and conductor, London-based Russian pianist Konstantin Lapshin is an accomplished musician with a unique artistic vision. Konstantin completed his studies in the Moscow State Conservatoire with Lev Naumov and Michail Voskresensky. Moving to London Konstantin completed his Master of Music degree at the Royal College of Music in 2009 on a full scholarship. At the RCM, Konstantin won the Chappell Gold Medal and the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Rose Bowl, the college’s highest prize for the most outstanding student (across all disciplines). He subsequently played for HRH Prince Charles and in the same year was the nominated ‘Rising Star’ to play at the Cadogan Hall, London.
Konstantin has won many international prizes and continues a very active performing career. He has given recitals and concerto appearances at various concert halls across Europe including the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room at the Southbank Centre, Cadogan Hall, Steinway Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and the Salle Cortot in Paris. Konstantin’s concerto performances have included concerts with the Odessa Philharmonic, Dortmund Symphony Orchestra, Timisoara Symphony orchestra, Novosibirsk Symphony Orchestra, Saratov Symphony Orchestra and De Havilland Philharmonic and Havant Symphony Orchestra. Recordings of Konstantin have been broadcast on Moscow’s Orpheus Radio as well as National Radio in Serbia and Poland. In autumn 2009, Konstantin made his debut recording with Classical Records.
Konstantin is supported by the Worshipful Company of Musicians and is a Concordia and Kirckman Society artist. Konstantin teaches at the Royal College of Music and will serve as a Jury member of the Schumann Piano competition in Italy. He is also currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the RCM with the support of the Musicians’ Company Studentship.

Amigos de Música concerts at Os Agostos begin at 7.00pm sharp. Doors open at 6.00pm and wine, fruit juices and canapés will be served. There will also be a short interval with refreshments served. Entry donation is €25 per person for guests and non-members.
The AMIGOS DE MÚSICA is an international group of around 90 members who stage musical activities by internationally renowned musicians and also sponsor young Portuguese musicians. It is a non-profit organization and celebrated its twenty-seventh anniversary last year.
