Who would choose to go to Liverpool in cold viagra pfizer uk and damp December? But that is exactly what ten of the Amigos de Musica did last week when they joined the sell out charity concert arranged by the respected and internationally famous concert pianist Kathryn Stott to celebrate her 50th Birthday at Liverpools Philharmonic Hall.
Over the last few years, Kathy has become a friend
and a firm favourite whenever she generously takes time off to come to the Algarve and play at the Sao Lourenco Cultural Centre.
Apart from raising £25,000 for charity (and having such luminaries as David Hockney in the audience), it was the most fantastic musical line-up of 2008. Yo-Yo Ma made his Liverpool debut along with 24 more musicians of international standing. We heard 10 cellists playing together. We heard 8 pianists playing 8 full concert grand pianos simultaneously. We heard two world class guitar duos as well as the Hermitage String Trio with Valeriy Sokolov, and just for good measure we were treated to two UK premiers and one world premiere.
For the 10 Amigos de Musica and the British friends who joined them, it is safe to say that none had ever had the spell-binding pleasure of being a part of one of the most memorable and wonderful musical events of a lifetime.
